MADISONBLUE is pleased to announce its second exhibition, "The Surrealist Eye," at MB ART SALON, an art project launched to mark the grand opening of the brand's Aoyama flagship store, MADISONBLUE TOKYO.
The Surrealist art movement, which began in France in the 1920s, gained momentum following the publication of the Surrealist Manifesto by French poet André Breton in 1924. Influenced by Freudian psychoanalysis, the movement sought to explore "another reality" through dreams, the unconscious, and chance, liberated from reason and conventional values, and has had a profound impact across a wide range of fields, including painting, photography, and literature.
This exhibition, "The Surrealist Eye," presents works by Kansuke Yamamoto, known as a pioneer of Surrealist photography in Japan; Ikko Narahara, who developed a unique photographic expression that resonates with the spirit of Surrealism; and Tomoo Gokita, who inherits and reinterprets this legacy in a contemporary context.
